    Default a yak for kids

I'm looking for a good stable kayak for kids. I have a 10 year old girl. I have been looking at the mini tripper but did not know if anyone would have a better suggestion. I want something she can grow with and fish with for sure. I appreciate any suggestions.

I recently purchased my daughter a Perception Sport KICK 9.5 for her 10th birthday and Its super stable. Its a Sit on Top boat and is so stable that right now while im in between my own yaks. (just sold mine and picking one up this weekend). I can stand and fish from it in calm water and I'm 5'10" and 215 lbs. I think the perception sport rambler is basically the same model if you cant find the kick 9.5. Plus..... The price is minimal @ 289.oo bt

A 10 foot Daytripper is good for kids IMO. The Mini Trooper is just too small.

That's was what I was worried about. It seemed small and weight limit was low.

My kids love their minitripper. Both can stand in it, and it cuts through the water great, better then my coosa. I have put an anchor trolley on it, and also a rod holder. It makes me want a 12 ft daytripper. Their aunt and high school cousins even go out in it.

Fluid Vaya kayak is also a nice SOT kayak for young ones.

The Tarpon 100 isn't a bad boat for kids. It may be a little big for her right now but she can fish from on into adulthood.

We use perception tribe 11.5 with kids and they are very stable and easy to paddle. The biggest drawback would be lack of dry storage and the seat is nowhere near as comfy as my coosa. An OK Caper would be another great boat for someone young that they could keep into adulthood.

I have to second Tallapoosapaddlingco. I recently purchased a Prescador 10 which uses the same hull as the Tarpon 100 and my ten year old son uses it just fine. It was also very affordable. I paid $399 for mine plus 45 for shipping.

My 8 year old daughter won a mini tripper in a tournament last summer.... she loves it and it is very fast and pretty stable. She fishes it everytime we hit the lakes around here. Working on her paddling a bit more before she will try and fish moving water in it. She usually just goes with me on the Frontier on rivers and creeks.
