Spinners
Did a float on Friday. It was in the heart of the day so things were HOT. I worked the Catawba hard and only had one nice fish to show for it. I caught him on a drop shot with a green fluke. The **** released and when the water hit my section things were flowing good. My question is, is anyone having any luck with spinnerbaits? I thought a spinner would be a good solution with faster cloudier water. I got nothing. Anyone using spinnerbaits on the SC side of the Catawba?

This may sound wired but try a mepps spinner. Either a no. 3 or 4 with a gold blade. Been killing smallies on it

RIVER BASSIN FLOOD
Haven't fished the Catawba recently but have done well on spinnerbaits in previous trips. Last trip out (not on the Catawba), caught more on crankbaits then spinnerbaits.
As for dmurf's comment, Mepps will pretty much always work anywhere.

Wish we had smallies. I used the Mepps and caught countless sunnies, it got annoying, one very large Gar, and two small bass. Thanks for the advice. Going back on Sunday to try and catch the Gar on a fly rod and throw out some more Mepps on my casting rod.
