Trying to start a kayak fishing group or Club in Southwest VA.

I am trying to start a kayak fishing club or group in Southwest VA. Would be a good way to find float partners and meet others in the area. Would love to see it grow into having some small tournaments in the future.

I do not have a lot of web experience, so if anyone would like to help I would be glad to add you as an administrator.

I support your effort to create a cohesive fisherman community in the region but am not sure if another Va forum is the answer. It is hard to keep up with pms on six+ angler forums.

Many people are not aware of the ample smb fishing opportunities on the smaller flows in the NR basin and elsewhere. If anglers do not know about said resources, it is not likely they will choose to fish there. The only way to remedy this problem is discussing the resources will surely upset many. I had planned on spending more time fishing in SW VA but my work situation has not allowed it.

uncross - do you know anybody in the Southeast VA region? I'm moving up to the Williamsburg area next week & will be looking for float partners in that area.

My hopes are that it will grow more into a club or something similar. Where people can find people to fish wish and float partners. Also I hope we can have a rodeo or two and maybe some tournaments in the future.

Rob, I do not know anyone it that area. My brother is moving to the Richmond area in a week or so and will also not have anyone to fish with or know up that way. I know he is a member on here but cant remember his name on here. I know there are alot of people from that area on kayakbassfishing.com forums. you may want to check on there. His handle is Rossi on there.

uncross, and you too robday1211, check the gathering and Rodeo board. I'm throwing my annual "Dysfunction at the Junction" down at New River Junction campground in mid September. This gathering was started almost 10 years back as part of the old RiverSmallies.com Rodeos and I've just expanded it. There's going to be a lot of folks from the general area you're talking about there so you might wanna come out and join us. I guarantee you'll find some folks you'll want to fish with on a regular basis. As far as tournaments go...not many tournament-minded guys in this bunch, but there's one or 2. In any event, I guarantee a good time anyway, whether you can find some tournament interest or not. Come on out.
