Default So, instead of talking about all the rodeos on separate state forums lets do it here!

Let's talk about all Rodeos on this new forum just for them because we all go to rodeos outside our state so it just makes sense to put them all here where its easier to keep up!

OK, I am new to this forum and to kayaking as a whole. What is a kayak rodeo if I may show my ignorance and reluctance to go and read up about it in different forums? Thanks!

Welcome to the site. As I'm sure you've noticed, April is shaping up to be full of river bassin' rodeos. We have the OC in Geogia, somewhere? in TN, and the James Gang in VA. I'd love to make it to all of them but don't think it will really be possible - but I may try.

Rodeos to me are somewhat loosely organized events usually over a 3 to 5 day period involving fishing by day and socializing around the campfire at night. Often a group meal or two is put together by generous participants. They are started by someone proposing a date and campground to serve as the base and the fishing will take place on one or more rivers within reasonable driving distance. The fishing is basically what we all do in small groups every weekend.

Rodeos are usually more about the socializing than the fishing. They are a great way to introduce yourself to others who share the obsession and perhaps plan a few more trips. You also will get to see how others from different areas go about river fishing and maybe pick up a few ideas.

Good luck and I hope to meet you on the rivers.
    Long may you run
