Default 13 pounds of largemouth in 1 cast!

Hey River Bassers! I am a new member here and wanted to start off with one of my coolest bassin' experiences so far. I doubled up with a 7.8 and a 5.13 on a "garage concoction" Alabama Rig. It was a cool experience to haul in these two toads, but getting them on a home-made lure was extra gratifying! Good fishing and don't be afraid to think outside of the box! Here is the full link to my story: http://kayakanglersoutheast.blogspot...a-rig-fun.html

Welcome aboard man. I thought your handle was familiar but when I saw the pictures I remembered seeing you on swimbait nation. Way to go man! Nice fish. Always good to have another Georgia boy on the site.

Looks good man ! these rigs are dangerous when it comes to schooling bass... you'd better have your knot tied on tight, that's for sure !

FYI - if you're looking to buy one of these on the open market, recommend that you DON'T order it from Bass Pro Shops... I normally love their customer service, but they really tweeked me with this last order. I had a $75 gift card from Christmas that was burning a hole in my wallet, so I ordered one (along with some other stuff) @ $25.99. their website said it was in stock, so when I checked out I thought "cool, I'll have it in about a week or so..." but when I got my order confirmation email, it said it was out of stock & they would have to get it on backorder if I wanted to keep the order open. surprised, I called their customer service line to ask for one of the "other models" that they also advertised as being in stock on their website.... come to find out they were out or ALL of the different models... the second part that got me agitated was that instead of placing that credit BACK on my orginal gift card, they decided to send me a whole nother one that didn't arrive by snail mail for another two weeks...

poor performance by an otherwise outstanding company.

FYI - I ended up ordering another one from Tackle Warehouse; can to the house in about 4 days & it's great.

I make mine in my garage. They cost about 1.00 apiece, take about 5 mins to make, and everything comes from Home Depot. Mine are a little heavier than factory, but I have not had one break and they seem to catch plenty of fish. I am working on a DIY article for my blog so I can share it with everyone. I love throwing A-rigs and it is as core to my tackle box as my spinnerbaits and jigs. I hate that about your bad BPS experience. I am not much of a BPS fan, I like tackle warehouse or small tackle companies. They do you right.

wonder if this configuration would also work with spoons?

I cant imagine it would function without a lot of tangling unless the are single hook spoons. I think soft plastics and single hooks will be the most functional fit IMO, but I never rule anything out. I would hook my sandwich on there if I thought it would give me another bass!

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, it is the hot hand right now so I am not putting it down. I throw big swimbaits anyway, so it is no different for me. I have been throwing it on a Loomins Swimbait 904, but I just cut down an older heavy rod for tossing it. Field tested it this weekend and it will send them to the warning track!

The Alabama rig is sweeping the nation harder and faster than any lure trend I have ever seen. I have them but haven't been on the water to throw it yet. But the way I always see 3 or 4 big river bass following the hooked bass I know it'll kill on my home flow. Awesome toads.

Guys around here are throwing the Tennessee Rig (3-wire) with cranks, spinnerbaits, and all kinds of other baits. Last week or earlier this week a guy caught a 10lb 12oz largemouth on Nickajack the State Record is only 14lb 8 oz, so the 10-12 is not to common in Tennessee.
