Got on the river for the first time in 2012. I had the pleasure of once again joining Shoal Tide in his awesome tunnel hull river boat with Skinny River as well. The morning started off cool and foggy with temps in the upper 40's. Water temps started off at 49 degrees and got up to 52 degrees by the end of the day. Water was fairly clear with a good stain with visibility about 3ft. The bite was very slow and we only caught 7 fish between the 3 of us but they were all good ones. All fish were caught on slow rolled swimbaits in 4 to 10 feet of water. Most of the shoalies were caught in the deeper sections with moderate current and rock. Stripers were caught in heavy current of coarse. On with the pics.
Here's my first fish of the new year. Also is the biggest striper I've ever caught. What a fight it was!
A few minutes later I managed to land this nice striper as well.
Here's Skinny River's first shoalie of the year...4lber to boot!
Shoal Tide got in the action with this nice shoalie.
This was my first shoalie of the new year and best shoalie we landed.
What a way to start the new year! I hope this is a sign...
