I was wondering when the 2012 schedule would be coming out. Trying to do some planning for spring and summer.

Cant wait till these dates come out. I am waiting to set my foot surgery dates till the schedule comes out so i can fish the KY tournament.
Sad but true
I'd really like to know too. I have a busy year planned but I would like to fish a tourney or two in Georgia especially if shoalies are involved.
Hey Guys,
My Name is Brooks Beatty for those who don't know me. I work with Drew on the tournament trail and with some of his stuff at Jackson Kayak. We are actually looking at a slightly different format for this upcoming year, and we both think it will really benefit everyone involved, especially the anglers. We are looking to add more stops, some that are ran by our ambassadors and some that we will attend. We are also changing the tournament start dates, where the trail has started in the early spring we are planning on starting in the mid-summer and running through to the spring of 2013. We believe this will help with more stable water conditions, this will also let the regional and grand finale tournaments be fished in the spring when fishing should be at its best and hopefully we can get some big time stringers at the finale versus battling the end of summer heat and lethargic fish. Please stay tuned, as we hope to have the dates planned out very soon. Thanks guys and look forward to seeing everyone this year on the trail.
look for the first dates in your areas to occur july or later this year. the divisional and national final will in the fall/ early spring of the 'next' year. It's going to somewhat mimic how B.A.S.S. runs their tournament year.

I think the turnout would be better if the dates would be announced earlier, I know most people are planning or already planned family vacations, trips, ect....
Last year the dates were announced on March 1st or a few days after. That's just less than or right at 30 days prior to the 1st stop April 2nd. So if it works out this year like it did last year and the tour starts in July look for dates to be posted in June.
I like the ideas of the Summer and Fall fishing and Finale in the Spring better as long as the rivers are good in the spring for the Finale.
I couldn't agree more, but I'm sure this is very difficult to put together.
I have no idea how hard it would be to coordinate all this work, and can't imagine. Finding a host location, finding sponsors, getting maps together, coordinating schedules so everything flows easily with other stops, finding hardworking trustworthy people to run each event, and those people have to get sponsors for their stop, volunteering many, many hours just to hope to find sponsors, host location, hotels, and hope the waters aren't blown out. Or some other big event in that area at the same time where nobody wants you there because each participant isn't dropping a grand for food, lodging, and entertainment. THe sponsors not wanting to commit, because they think they won't see enough in return, and in this economy they are strapped by corporate anyway.
Volunteers are spending their valuable time, and hard earned money to hope for a good turnout at their stop, and getting an attaboy at the end of the day Saturday after the stop, and that next monday coming to the forums and hearing how the fishing was no good, or the payout was crap. Not saying that has happened at a River Bassin Stop, but I'm sure it's hard work, and takes time from you personal life, fishing, and family. Anyone who runs a stop I admire and greatly respect.
For anyone who runs any kind of tournament my hat is off to you.

I agree completely with you, I would not like to take on this challenge.. I sure each of these are a ton of work alone, much less a whole series. I was stating that turnout was not so good at some of these last year, and I think it would help if they got their schedule out earlier, because people plan their family vacations and such usually more than a month or so ahead of time.
Oh, I agree completely, and I think as this grows more and more the easier this will be to assemble.
I would like to see at one point the complete schedule be set in stone 6-8 months before the 1st tournament even happens (tough with rivers though). It will take time, trial and error, a lot of sweat, money and tears along with some really special volunteers.
Maybe one day in the future these volunteers will get paid well for what they do.
I love kayak fishing, and want to see nothing more than growth from the entire sport, but I'm just not in the position where I can take time from work, or family, to be available 24/7 and don't have the time or resources that this would take to be a part of.
It takes special people that are really determined, and will make this succeed at all costs, and I just can't commit that.

We do have one date set. The first tournament will be held July 28th in Aurora, IL. I'm one of the guys who volunteered to organize this event. We were fortunate enough to get the same host (http://paddleandtrail.com) we had in our area last year. Paddle and Trail did a great job last year and they have been great to work with. Illinois has a lot of great rivers and streams that hold good numbers of LM and SM bass. You are all invited to come on up to our neck of the woods and participate in our tournament. Aurora is a suburb of Chicago so it would make for a great trip if you have never been to the Windy City.
