    Default My favorite season!!!!

I would have to say Autumn is my favorite time to fish. You have just come off the brutal summer heat and things are cooling off. The fish get more active as the water cools too. And fall is when I tend to catch more numbers larger fish. Especially largemouth on the rives. Now I will admit that dealing with the falling leaves can be frustrating but, the beauty of it to me is well worth it. And also while floating you will see more wildlife on your trips as they too are working to prepare for winter. You can just smell the winter coming.

Of course there ain't nothing like the winter fishing. There are times you can catch a warm day in the winter and just have the time of your life catching bass. But you can also catch them on a cold winters day. And that can be a real challange. But I mainly target trout in the winter. And that is the great thing about winter. I haven't fished for trout in about 9 months and I am ready! There is nothing like fishing for a wild trout as the snow is falling either. That is just breath taking. Man I love winter fishing!

Bring on the Spring I say! Ahhh just the smell of spring. There ain't a better season. Everything is coming back to life. Its time to put the long rod away and get out the bass rod. The fish are starting to come out of their winter slumber. They are putting on their feed bags. They are preparing for the spawn and need all the protein they can get. Everything is coming back to life.

But I can't wait for summer! The spawn is over. The fish move into summer feeding habits and its top water time! Nothing like catching some big ol' fat bass on some old school top water plugs. And not only do I get the shear joy of fishing but now the water is warm enough that I can enjoy a swim during a float. There is nothing like taking a cool dip in the water and enjoying a cold, crisp, clean Budweiser. That is what summers were made for!

That is my favorite season. What is yours??

fat daddy spring for me...chunky bass and the striper run. it's also nice to get out early spring after a long winter hibernation sitting in treestands
Give a man a fish...he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish...his wife won't see him much.

If you put a gun to my head and tell me to answer I'll say spring. However, I agree with chief's positive attitude on all seasons. There are different fish or locations that peak at different times of year so once you figure that out, they really all are awesome in their own way. What an awesome world we live in when you really think about it!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say summer. The fishing can be feast or famine with the spring due to cold fronts and high water from heavy rains. Summer is consistent. Once you find a pattern that works for you then it usually works all summer long. The days are longer too so you can fish longer floats if you want to.

I agree with you Robert. Summer is by far my favorite time of year for river bass. Yeah they aren't as fat as spring or winter bass but they are so much easier to catch. I also catch more big bass in the summer than any other time of the year. The past two years, I caught more big bass in the month of August, than I did the rest of the year.

Definitely Fall. The weather is just so perfect and the colors make it even nicer to be outside. Cool mornings, warmer afternoons and biting bass. Who could ask for more?

I like them both. Water levels in wv dont make good summer fishing plus to many people on the river. Right now you can float and have the whole river to yourself .

I am still a big fan of the spring because it is such a refeshing change from the dead of winter. The anticipation for spring bass in the winter drives me nuts every year. But I tell you this fall has been really great. It has been one of the best fishing falls I can remember due to some warm stable weather. I am gonna be really sad once Old Man Winter shows back up.

Its a tough call I've been fishing my entire life all 20 years of it but im still figuring out the different patterns for each season. So far weather wise fall is beautiful and spring is great after a long cold winter and the fishing can be hot both literally and figurativly in summer but im really interested in figuring out this winter fishing. So look for me on the river this winter trying to put a few more tricks up my sleeve.

I really like winter fishing because nobody else is out there, and that is when I catch my best fish on the dropshot in the river and weightless worms in the creeks. And like blake the challenge makes it fun to reel in the bigun.
The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese! So dont rush life.
