    Default Fish Deformality?

I didn't notice this until today when I was going through my photo albums looking for a specific pic, but check out the rear dorsal fin on this bass I caught in the Savannah river a couple of weeks ago...

Weird, huh? Anybody out there ever seen anything like this before with a river bass?

what do ya'll think - deformity, battle scar, or new breed? We could call it the "rooster tail" bass!

pretty common to see fins beat up like that. Some is erosion (if they are feed under rocks/logs). Also happens very frequently during the spawn (even on the dorsal).

    "Deformality" isn't a word.

Fish just looks like its fin is "beat up" to me, as well.

Nope, it isn't, but he did clearly communicate what he meant, so his invented word got the job done, despite its "deformality". I do agree, though, that the fin appears to be beaten up.

Busted fin, hook in the head, swung around by the lip..... What a crappie day!

That's the funny thing about treble hooks - if the fish doesn't swallow the bait straight down, they usually end up getting one stuck in the outside part of their face or head when bringing them to hand !!! oh well, better him than me...

note: no LMB were hurt during the taking of this action photograph.

and I got it, the word I was looking for was "deformity" not "deformality"... it's amazing how your brain slows down when you're enjoying a couple of cold ones at the end of a long day !

Not hating haha, I was just commenting. I said the word about 10 times to myself before I thought it did in fact sound funny enough to look it up.
