Man we've been trying to get to BSF all summer, but the rain just wouldn't allow it. So when the gauges were showing 500CFS we knew it should be crystal clear and great for fishing , so we packed up for a two day trip. Steve (Justaddwater) and I headed out while sending Tim (plantmastertim) a call and PM to get him to come down. We arrived Friday night and set up camp looking forward to a Saturday morning trip. When we arrived at the river the flow was perfect but had a bad stain to it (you could see only two ft down in the water at best). But we were determined to fish it regardless and we caught some fish just not any huge ones. The river dropped about three feet during the day which didn't help the fishing but the trip was a beautiful one.
They weren't giving but a slight chance of rain for Sat but that evening it started with a few showers and when we got off the river it came down in buckets. We had gotten in touch with Tim Fri night and he was coming down Sat evening to fish Sunday. He was almost there by the time we knew BSF would be up and Muddy Sun. So Steve and I knew of a trib of BSF that we had been wanting to fish but had never gotten around to it. So while I waited on Tim at camp Steve headed out to look at the trib and try and get some local info on PI/TOs. Steve did well and we had a float for Sun but knew nothing about the flow other than the TO/PI and that it was a good smallie stream. Well it turned out it was a hidden jewel and rescued the trip for us. This is a small flow but the thing is full of smallies and it holds some good size fish. This is what we saw at the put in.
This flow was really low but the shoals were very short with long still sections which made it fairly easy float. We caught a bunch of fish and some nice ones for such a small flow.
Sorry for these two fuzzy pics.
Thanks Steve and Tim for being real troopers and hanging in there with this old man through thick and thin.
