Looking good, that will catch bass for sure. My only advice is work on packing your hair a bit tighter and it will make your bugs float and look better. Yet tying hair can be hard and some guys never really get great at it. I will say this for your first attempt that is a beauty and it won't take long before your tying like the pros. Great work.

    Yeah, what smfisher said.

I spent about 6 years tying flies commercially for trout shops and let me tell you, deer hair bass bugs are much harder to tie than any trout fly I ever learned to tie.

Your first one is good. If you can find the old video by Larry Nix I think named "Tying Bass Flies", it will help a lot. Obviously YouTube is a great help too.

Keep it up and stick it out, you are on the right track.

Best tip I can give...use good quality hair. A good tyer cannot make bad hair work.
There is a gent named Chris Helms that specializes in selling hair for tying and he will carefully select peices of hair just for tying bass flies.

Those look great...my first deer hair flies looked awful but those are good great start. I have a feeling that you will be posting some top notch flies in the future. Keep up the good work

not a fly guy, but I love to tie jigs.

Every style of bait comes with a learning curve. My first hair jigs looked like crap, but they worked.

My newest jig...let's just say there's a learning curve, but they'll catch fish too.

You did good. keep it up and keep looking for the next step. Eventually you'll have a bait that's better than you can buy. The best part will be when you catch something off of a bait you created yourself. Nothing beats that.

Always build your own baits. There's just no substitute

Not a bad tie. I like that telecaster in the back ground too.

I'm in agreement with Double Haul. Nice tie and nice Tele. That dog will hunt, and looking at where you are now, I'd say you're going to be showing us some impressive work in the future.

Thanks for the complements on the flies and the guitar. It's a sweet sweet guitar I love it. I'm also noticing the more flies I tie the better they turn out. I guess it goes like everything practice practice practice.
