For those folks who fish the James River but have never seen where the the river begins its journey to the sea I thought I would post the following picture.
The river left is the Jackson River and the river right is the Cowpasture River.
The river is 340 miles long, which makes it one of the longest rivers in America that begins and ends in the same state and its watershed encompasses approximately 10,000 square miles, which makes up almost 25% of the state. When you look at this modest beginning who would have thought that at the other end the James would be home to one of the largest and busiest harbors in the world at Norfolk.
If you haven't experienced the wonder of this river, I hope some of you RiverBassers make it up this way sometime in the furture. It's a beautiful place to wet a line.
