This one is a MickT original as far as I can tell. I wanted a bottom bouncer that could pass for a crawfish/sculpin/assorted yummy bit of goodness, and this is what I came up with. I carry it in green/brown, brown/orange, brown/purple, and black/blue. Another fence rider that takes rock bass as well as smallies. Be warned- this one is a bear to cast on a long leader.

Tied in this order:
Hook: #2 Gama B10s or any other hook for that matter. I've had trouble with the B10s riding on their side in this pattern b/c of the big gap, but if you carefully tie it, it shouldn't be a problem.
Eyes: red dumbbells
Tail: rabbit zonker in the lighter color (orange in brown/orange) surrounded by a little marabou in the other color, with a little crystal flash underneath. I like red, especially in the green/brown one (think green pumpkin with red glitter).
Body: estaz
Collar: marabou under a sili leg skirt
Head: chenille or dubbing for a "finished" look

Glad ya'll like it. The smallies do too. I first tied it with a longer zonker tail, but it was so bad about fouling that I just cut it down to the current length. A mono weedguard would work, too, but I don't like to put anything between the hook and the fish. The wide gap on the B10s keeps the tail from fouling as bad as with a traditional streamer hook. I guess the strip is able to slide back out if it crosses the point.

Thats sweet...we need a step by step of that one...bet carp would show that some love...for that matter I garuntee a redfish or 2 would as well....very nice! A trick a guide showed me about keeping zonker from fouling when used like you have in this fly...dab super glue on the non hair side of your zonker strip and let it dry, just enough length to make it stiff near the hook...it has worked for me.

Deepstep, this one is super easy. If you can tie a wooly bugger, you can tie this one. I don't have any pictures handy, but I'll type it out. If I'm unclear on any of this, just ask.

1. Start thread and tie the lead eyes on top of the hook shank.
2. Tie in the tail. I use a combination of marabou and rabbit zonker plus a little flash.
3. Tie in the body material. I use a really bushy chenille, usually estaz. Sometimes I'll twist two colors together for a mottled effect.
4.Wrap the estaz forward and tie off just behind the eyes.
5. Tie a little puff of marabou under the hook shank, right behind the lead eyes.
6. SiliLegs- I tie in 5-8 on each side.
7. Advance the thread in front of the lead eyes and tie in chenille for the head.
8. Wrap chenille around and behind lead eyes to form a head. Tie off, whip finish, and cement.
9. MOST IMPORTANT STEP- go fish it!

This is one I will have to tie up, I like the compact look of this fly. I have been looking for a really great crawfish pattern and this fits the bill. Keep tying I would like to see more. Thanks for sharing!
