Default Another 4 species slam. 3-24-2011

I caught 6 on a short trip today. Two little redeyes, a decent spot, a small largemouth and two nice shoal bass. One shoalie was 2lb 8oz's and the other was 3lbs. They both pulled like freight trains. I am glad the fish finally have some fight back in them. All the fish came on a jerk bait on the pause after one long slow jerk. One of the redeyes hit 3 times before getting hooked up. Those little guys are agressive. Short post today, tired and I need sleep.

another good day on the river.
Give a man a fish...he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish...his wife won't see him much.

I'll show ya how to do it next time I see ya.

Jason, I don't envy you working nights but I do envy your freedom to fish during the day in the middle of the week. Nice fish.

I hear you Jon but I have to do the best with what I have. I don't have a mount or tripod for my camera and just have to prop it up on the front of my yak. Angle is bad because of how high my seat is. Plus I have no shame in holding my fish out, I take all my fish pics like that. The secret is out!

Great pics Jason, looks like a great trip. Man I'd love to get with plantmastertim and come to the rodeo but life is a little too busy right now. Hope everyone has a blast.

I wish a 4-species slam were possible in alabama. I guess you might could get a LM, alabama bass, kentucky spot, and SM, but that would be a stretch. It's a shame redeye ans SM don't co-exist in Alabama. At least, not that i know of. I did get a LM, Alabama bass, redeye, and shoalbass slam one time though which was quite a task in Alabama since shoalbass are so scarce here. They were on 2 seperate flows though.

I do believe there are redeye bass in north east Alabama.

May very well be; i don't fish up there often enough to know for sure. I wonder if there's anywhere where a 5 or 6 species slam is possible? Maybe florida?
