Default Ideas for securing rods in flush mount holders

I'd be interested in any pictures and descriptions of methods used to secure rods in flush-mount holders. On my MantaRay 11 I put a ring eyelet onto each of the flush mounts and put hooks on either end of a piece of bungee cord. To secure the rods I ran the single bungee across both reel stems, hooked on the the ring on either end. I suppose it worked OK, but it was awkward to attach and release each time, especially with the amount of tension I had in the bungee. I would like something easier on my new (as yet unused) Coosa.

Ideally each holder would have a locking mechanism where with one hand you lock/unlock the rod. I'm leaning toward one small bungee for each holder, but I wonder if there's something easier out there. Wouldn't it be nice to just flip a lever of some kind to l lock/unlock?

What about some type of locking ring that tightens with a twist, then opens up with another twist???

Also I believe Scotty or Ram have slide in holders that can convert that flush mount to a more traditional rod holder, not sure if it will work on the angled Coosa flushes.

PS, I never really used flush mounts so I could be totally wrong. I plan to use mine for net/plier storage, I think.

I had the same problem until I mounted some rod floats on mine. But alot of people dont like them. You could also mount a bungee with a clip on it to tie onto the first eye on the rod, I found it easier to hook and unhook there as opposed to the reel because its alittle higher.

Scotty gimbal mounts will fit in the Coosa's flush mounts and lock, but this will only prevent it from moving around inside the flush mount. If you turtle it will just slide out of the flush mount.

I'm sure you could modify it to work...

I just added a bungee loop to the hold down .When I put my rods back there I just slip the loop over the reel works great and its simple and easy.

Thanks for all the replies, ideas and the pictures guys. Tim I'll probably try the bungee attached to the deck loop that is already on the boat. Low impact and nothing really to install except for tying up a piece of bungee cord.

Yeah that might do it. I'm going to try the bungee since it requires no real mod but keep my eyes open for some kind of gizmo....

I done what Tim done with the bungee, but Striper fishing the other night I was a little scared trolling. I was just waiting for something big to pull the rod out of the angled flush mount. Also on our float Sunday I went under a low hanging tree and herd something behind me it was my Stradic 3000 hanging from a tree. I just knew it was going to drop before I got back to it. Luckily I made it back before it fell out, you should have seen the look on Sarah's face priceless.
