Added rod holders and my crate to it tonight. Right now I have a anchor trolley installed but I'm gonna go with the dog leash/drag chain system. Hoping by the weekend(provided the rain stops) the maiden voyage will happen.

At 4 y/o, I waded Pumpkinvine Creek behind my Dad. 40+ years later, he is still my favorite fishing partner !!!

Cool boat, looking forward to the on the water pics.
cool man nice setup, I use a milk crate on my SOT yak too, good way to keep all your stuff together. One thing I might suggest is to move the rodholder on the other side of the crate right behind the seat, it will make it a heck of a lot easier to grab those rods when you need'em.
Nice set up Doug. One suggestion, if you can you might be better off turning the crate around so the rods are right behind you. Will help you to keep from hitting them as long as you don't cast straight over head. Side arm casts will be okay but may still hit those rods if they are that far behind you. Of course you'll only know when you get out and slime that sucker.
SWEET!!! Now you gotta come down this way and bust some shoalies with me and Jason! Hope you have a lucky maiden voyage!![]()

Looking good, but anchor trolleys are bad news on the river. Its a recipe for disaster that I had to learn the hard way. If you use any drag chain/anchor on the river, it needs to come directly off of the bow or stern and not be allowed to slide to any other angle that anchor trolleys were designed for. An anchor hangining up in the current, and anything but perfectly straight off the stern or bow, and that kayak will flip faster than you'll know what happened. Anchor trolleys don't allow for a direct inline anchor with the stern of the boat, even if it runs all the way to the stern, when that drag chain hangs up (and it will at some time), you don't want the anchor line sliding down the side of the boat getting you stuck broadside. That's what happens when there gets to be too much tension on the anchor, it will turn the boat so that anchor is in direct line to where its lashed at, which is usually mid-boat. Bad news.
Sorry, not trying to scare ya or tell ya what to do, just trying to save you a very costly mistake that I learned the hard way.
Thanx for the posts and for all the thoughts and info. One thing I wanted to touch on is my crate. A couple of folks recommended that I turn the crate around so the rod holders will be directly behind me, therefore making it easier to grab the rods. In theory yes thats true. But if you look at the way my crate is set up its geared so I can reach my bait boxes(not shown) easier. Now if I turned the crate around with the rods holders behind me and I needed a bait, I would have to reach THRU the 3 rods in the holders to pull a box out of the crate. Do you see where I'm going with this?

^^ yea SwampCobra. Gotta do what works for you. I'm constantly tinkering with setups on my yak to find better ways to make things less cluttered.
that crate setup looks familiar![]()
Give a man a fish...he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish...his wife won't see him much.
You could mount this in front of you that way your rods are laying down and they are secure with easy access. I have this on a couple of my boats and it works pretty good. I also mounted one to the thwart in my canoe. Just lay the rod in it and velcro it down.
