RedHook (my youngest son, Joel) and I decided to scout out some new water! We planned on a early morning put in since the weather is scorching. 4 a.m. came early, but we both were looking forward to the new water. I am always amazed at how a 'new float' brings out the boy in all of us. I was as fired up as a tornado in a trailer park, and I believe ole RedHook was on go too.
The oppressive heat we've been going through the past week seems to have the fish shut down in my area. That was true today, as the fishing was as tough as I've ever seen. We only boated 2 fish all day!! And we threw, tubes, spinnerbaits, plastic worm, dry fies, buzzbaits, finesse worms, jigs, baby minus 1, etc.... They were not to be found!
We worked lay downs, push water, shoals, below shoals, deep pools, deep banks, shallow banks, feeder creeks, etc...They just were not biting today! Maybe, next time.
However, the day introduced a new float which has GREAT potential! It is one I'm looking forward to hitting again when the conditions are right! We saw four huge beavers cross the stream and 6 blue herons leading us along the flow. I enjoyed being out with RedHook and getting to enjoy the discovery of new water! Hope you enjoy the photos and see the beauty of this flow. The fish 'have to' be in this water, it is just a matter of hitting it at the right conditions.
