The weather really has me questioning our March 13th date. We haven't had as much warm weather as I was hoping we'd have and the rain has been pretty relentless. With that being said I'm still up for going the weekend of the 13th if the weather is nice and the water levels/clarity look okay.
I'd like to go ahead and suggest we do it at the Cloud Crossing campground near Goldonna, LA on the banks of the Saline River. As Barret has shown, there should be plenty of float options between the Saline and the Dugdemona. I believe that are some wading options nearby too.
I think it would be a good idea to pick a backup date if things begin to look bleak for the weekend of the 13th. The weekends of April 10th and 17th are open for me. The 1st weekend in April is Easter and the last is an IFA Kayak Fishing event in Cocodrie. Then the River Bassin Tournament Trail begins in May and I'd rather not interfere with those events, it also starts getting real hot here by then.
Basically, who is still up for March 13th? Does the Saline sound good to you? Would you rather the Kisatchie or an April date?
Well, I guess this time of year there just isn't any interest in a big get together down here in Louisiana.
ah well...maybe this fall...
Dream. Explore. Discover.
I'll check my schedule at work today, but I think I may be able to do the 13th if flows cooperate.
Sorry, had my weekends mixed up. I gotta work the weekend of the 13th.![]()
Just stumbled on this thread. I am leading a hike on the Wild Azalea Trail on March 13th, so that is out for me, although I can do something on Sunday, if y'all are camping out. If you are thinking of Central La, I would say Saline Bayou, or Kisatchie bayou. The Calcasieu is too muddy up here, and has a huge watershed, so get high after every rain, as does the Dugdemona and Little River. All are nice during the summer, when no rain has fallen, but Saline and Kisatchie draw from smaller areas and are not as affected(they are right after a rain though). The Cane River is also near Kistachie Bayou, which is a great bass fishery, but you compete with stinkpots & skiers.
I will go ahead and officially postpone this event to a later date.
Yah, sounds good to me..Let's see about a fall get together to the new bogue chitto facility
More than likely, I'll still be fishing a river somewhere this Friday/ Saturday for those interested!
