I use power pro 6/20 without a leader. Although I know guys that live by flouro leaders. I do have to say in small flows and crystal water I wont use braid much.

yea i will research a river/creek heavily before hitting it because there are some weird landowners up here (see the jackson river post in VA forum) also way out in the sticks some people will rather...
I know nothing about float tubes, but it doesn't sound wise to use them in the late fall/winter? Sounds like a great idea for summer though!
DH - Yea I have thought about the "gotta fish it" aspect of the scenario. One reason I am wanting others inputs, I doubt I could pass up fishable areas either up or down. One thing that is worrying...

Everytime I throw very large tubes I seem to always catch more catfish than bass even though the bass I catch are like you mentioned larger in general. I am going to get some of the little tubes...
I should be able to sneak away and float one day, I will let you know as it gets closer

Those forecasts 9 out of 10 times mean a scattered shower late in afternoon. I checked out a few smaller flows and they are dropping super fast and clearing up nicely.
