Two of my favorites
Wow!....Didnt expect what arrived! Feel like I short changed a few of you. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks...but no guarantees...just some MSU (Make Stuff Up) fly tying. Cant wait to see the rest. Caught some nice fish on the jigs from last years swap.
In the mail tomorrow...
Got mine done tonight. Will send tomorrow.
I use a 280cm double blader with my solo canoe...but I only use it for going upstream. I like a single blade paddle better for floating downstream..get one a bit longer than normal.
Make it seven. Thanks for doing this again Jason.
Make sure you have your PFD on and dont go alone. Some Whitewater float bags (fore and aft) would provide some extra safety (but probably not needed). Have fun.
I've owned several solo canoes over the years...the Disco 119/Old Town Pack...is kinda wobbly when your getting in and out...but fine once your underway...probably not the best beginners boat. Its...
If the water temps above 55....I start with a walk the dog topwater bait...The KVD Sexy Dawg Jr. is a very good bait, easy to walk, decent hooks, and not that pricey. The Owner Zip n' Ziggy is very...
Thanks gents...planning on something a bit different this weekend. Headed to the Lower St. Francis...lots of Granite instead of Limestone.
A couple shots from the Big Piney and Meramec over the last month or so...Fishing has been OK...but nothing worth fish picture. Still fun to go fishing in 100+ degree heat.
Looks like you had an awesome time! Good for you!
I use the surgeons knot for braid to leader. I'm sure there are stronger knots out there but its a no-brainer to tie and strong enough. You cant catch fish while your tying fancy knots.
Non-Native Spotted bass are replacing our native smallmouth in some of the streams that I fish...I keep every one of them up to my limit of 12. Smallmouth and Largemouth get tossed back.
Dont complain. Invasive Spotted Bass have darn near ruined many of my close to home smallmouth spots....They have outbred and hybridized with our smallmouth over the last 20-30 years and most of what...
Nice report...havent been below Two Rivers in awhile...need to get down there soon.
Almost all of my rods are custom built...I've made 8 bamboo fly rods...and wrapped a couple dozen graphite sticks. My current project is two little spin cast setups for my 3 and 5 year old...
Just depends on the character of the creek, and how much you want to drag & portage...Figure it takes around 60-100cfs of flow to float without dragging a canoe or kayak much.
21"x14" Smallmouth
I sand mine into shape on a disc sander (see below)...cut foam into a cube, sand to size, taper the back, taper the sides...done.

Nice! I tie mine on a 1/0 Mustad Signature Series Hook...Works well for smallmouth.
I float that river alot..Its one of the gems of the Ozarks. Bring your smallie and trout gear.
Move your seat a couple inches closer to the center of your boat...it helped with my Old Town Pack...but was still a wobby litlle boat. Upgraded to a Wenonah Vagabond years ago..and its much better...
