Ha...I didn't see this one coming. I suspected a sub species of the northern spot in the coastal tribs, but I wasn't aware if anybody cared much less of any ongoing research. I'm a little surprised...

Don't get your hopes up...that's a juvenile. Adults look very much like a regular northern spotted bass.

I got a window of opportunity for a couple hours on the river this afternoon. The fish were active but just didn't seem to be hungry. With just a couple hours to fish, I threw the box at them...

Hey, I've only got 2 shoalies over 5...and they came on back to back casts on that magical morning last spring. I'm still thrilled to catch one over 3lb when I get the chance to fish for them. :)

Boykinsbuddy, by my best interpretation of the law, I'm good. He was caught legaly on hook & line and there's no size limit for bass in AL. The only bass you can't keep is shoal...
