Just wanted to say hello as I just registered. I am 46 live in BR and have fished most of my life. Used to fish the Natalbany and Tickfaw Rivers as a kid with my older brother and my nephew. I don't own a boat anymore except for a two man pond boat. I have available a nice 14' canoe I can borrow anytime. Have used it twice last year on the Tangipahoa. Caught only a few spots the first trip I think the water was too high. We caught over 30 spots on the second trip, it was awesome. Those two float trips converted me, I don't think I ever want to own a big boat ever again. The peace, simplicity, pureness and closeness to nature of catching spots in the moving clear water is hard to beat. Even though they weren't the biggest fish they weren't bad and what the lack in size they make up for in spirit. My brother lives in Amite so he can pick me up at the crossing there after a float and bring us and the canoe back to the truck. Looking forward to learning more about the local waters an fishing them. I want to try the Amite, Comite or other close waters.

Thanks for the welcomes!
Bayou I haven't fished the Amite or Comite. i heard they are pretty good, though I doubt as good as the Tangipahoa.. I want to try both of them.
I was wondering when you fish most of your spots do you fish downstream and paddle back up or do you have a pick up vehicle. That's how we fished the Tangi floating from one bridge put in point to the one in Amite, La. where my brother picked us up. We floated Arcola to Amite once and then Tangipahoa to Amite the next time. i would love to learn some new areas also if you don't mind. I will keep quiet about them.
I was thinking about trying the Natalbany north of Hwy. 22. When I was a kid my brother would drop me and my nephew (his son) off at the boat lunch at Hwy 22. He would launch the boat and make sure we had our watches on and say I'll meet you here at 12 or whatever time. we would fish down river all morning, but then we would usually fish the last hour or so up stream of that launh. We caught quite a few bass there even though the water was always muddy.
i would be very thankful for any advice or help and if you ever want get together and wet a line let me know. I am thinking about getting a yack man those Jacksons sure look sweet. I take it you like yours.

Way more productive to float down river... The Nat above 22 is a little too skinny for me. However the upper Tangi can be a great float, but lots of timber. Drop me a line, would like to take a float one of these days.
