I am new to this site and have enjoyed reading the forums. I am considering getting a new kayak, and am wondering if there is anywhere in northern VA to test ride them. I am trying to decide between the coosa and the native propel kayak. I have been fishing out of swift now for about two years and think it is time for an upgrade. Any suggestions?

Doahriverrat lives in front royal area and has a spare Coosa. You might try and send him a message.

You pimping me out now Blake? What Blake said though...if you wanna ride a Coosa, drop me a PM and come on out. Fair warning though...I'm pro staff for Jackson Kayak so I may a tad biased. But in my favor I'm honest about it. :D

appomattox river company in farmville has more boats than you could ever dream of and also has demo boats. You may want to just make the drive and go check them out as there are rivers and flatwater near by that makes it easy to determine if either boat is for you.
My question would be why those two boats? They are completely different styles of boat. I wouldn't want to take the propel out if i primarily fished rivers but if i was more inclined for flatwater it would be a good choice. I have a coosa and on the river i haven't paddled a boat to perform as well as it does. And for comparison i used to own a redfish 12 and have paddled a tarpon 120, 140 and ride 135 all on the river.
And for the record i am NOT a jackson or any other boat's pro staffer :)

If you're in No VA, there are many anglers with many boats. Hook up with a few of them.
If you're interested in a Coosa, I'd also try the Manta Ray and Wilderness Systems in the same size.
Not knocking the Coosa at all, I want one in my stable, but as flyfisher said, I'd be looking at similar boats unless you have multiple applications, then there's no problem buying one of each ;-)
Appomatux is a drive from No VA, but well worth it for demo days. There's also a place by Harrisburg, Blue Mountain??, that has a demo day.
And Hersch, when are you taking me for a ride in a Coosa? I want one in my stable hint hint.

George, my diminutive friend...you know where I live and paddle. Give me a call and we'll make it happen. ;-)

Hey guys, this is my Wife's Cousin's Husband (if that makes any sense to you!).... so treat him well. The reason why he's asking about those two boats is b/c I own both of them & we recently took a family trip together out to Emerald Isle, NC. I totally agree, each type of boat has its intended purpose, so for where he lives give him your best advice...
