I felt compelled to make a report from my activities last week. I did not catch these crappie from a kayak but it's kinda hard to pack a friend on one so I took the old bass tracker out. I initially did this simply because the temp was 68 degrees in North East Alabama and it was such a nice day I had to get on the water, so I called up a friend and we hit the water about 3. I won't tell a story about expecting to catch a lot of fish because I had no idea we would have the day we did, especially since the water temp was a cool 41 degrees. We pulled up on one of favorite spots and began casting jigs and pretty much we caught fish until it got to dark and we had used the 2 dozen minnows we bought. We ended up with somewhere around 50-60 but kept 23 that were over 10" and 3 at 13 or more. What a great day.

I love a 50+ day of catching big slabs. Sometimes it's mind boggling how many crappie stack up in one small area. Looks likke you had a good day.

it was weird to be catching them this early, usually the bite doesn't really turn on until the 2nd or 3rd week of Feb, but for the last 2 years they have been really messed up. I just caught them at the exact right time in the right place and is fun. I welcome any of you to come down sometime and maybe I can put you on some, and yes they were delicious on the grill rubbed with butter and garlic.yum yum
