Hi my name is Derik, I am new to this site but I am sure that a few of you guys know me from other forums or fishing together even(I found pics of me here I did not know of:confused:). My thing is river bassin with a fly rod. I am also a pontoon/kickboat loyalist. I fish mostly the Colorado River below Austin, but there are only a couple rivers left in TX that haven't met me.Now for some porn. . .

Welcome aboard. Is that middle fish a guad or a gaud/smallie hybrid? It's a pretty fish either way.

Welcome Derik D!
I have a sister in Austin, was in Austin on a visit last Christmas...VERY cool town, Austin.
I always have to go to Driftwood and visit The Salt Lick when I'm there.

Welcome aboard. Is that middle fish a guad or a gaud/smallie hybrid? It's a pretty fish either way.

It's a hybrid I have caught a couple in the lake above the river that might be a pure strain, but I am doubting that too.

Is there anywhere in Texas where there are pure strain Gaudalupe's left? I know pure strains still exist I just mean is there anywhere where just Gauds exist and not hybrids?

(I found pics of me here I did not know of:confused:).

:D I swear I told you that I post over here. Maybe not. It's been too long. :D
Good to see over here.

I'll tell you, Derik is a heck of a bass catching fly fisherman. And catfisherman that one day.

Let's get out and fish soon.

I'll answer LowHybred - there are a few rivers with pure Guads left (ones that weren't stocked with SM in the '70s). Mostly small rivers. Researchers are working to protect what there is and attempt to fix what has been done. But it'll be a long uphill battle.
Unfortunately they are gone on our beloved Colorado.

Those are some beautiful fish even if they are hybrids.

Those Guads look so much like smallies in pics it's hard to tell the difference, someday I have to catch one to add it to my lifetime bass slam.
