Took the fly rod along while out of town on business last week. Caught this nice smallie and some smaller ones in a very pretty river close to the Antietam battlefield. The water was cold, about 62 degrees, but some bit anyway. Caught them all on a chartreuse popper.

nice smallie...did any of the others have the black spots on them? what causes that?

That one is the only one with the black spots. He fought very well and certainly appeared healthy, and I don't know what caused the black spots.
