I have been fishing the Stillwater off and on since 1972 when my family moved to Covington (I'm NO expert). Its home to some decent Smallmouth and Largemouth bass. No state record fish but still a lot of fun to fish. I'm not exactly sure where it starts but it I have fished it from north of Covington through Pleasant Hill. It runs through West Milton, Englewood and meets up with the Miami River in Dayton. A tributary; Greenville Creek meets the Stillwater in Covington. Greenville Creek also holds decent bass.
Its a beautiful river, given scenic river status by the state and it was featured in Ohio Game and Fish magazine several years ago. Its a nice river to canoe and very wadeable ( I know, wadeable is not a word). I see some boats and pond prowlers with trolling motors in the deeper parts.
Lately the water has been low, but its not really a problem. The topwater bite has been on. I have been catching smallies in the 14-17 inch range, mostly on topwater plugs or buzzbaits.
So, come on Ohio river bassers!! Anything you want to add, Post on the forum, show your pics, Lets have some fun. See you on the river!
