View Full Version : Caught my personal best bass! 5lbs 5oz largemouth

I caught my biggest bass ever! What a fish it was. I was throwing to a seris of throw downs. Jason was teaching me how to throw a spiner bait. He told me to pause every now and then and let it sink. So I was thinking about that while I casted right against the bank. I let it sink for a second and WHAM! I had a monster hit! I set the hook and the fight was on. I yelled ''baby, O my God'' and then I just shut up. I had to concentrate on landing this fish. He dived a couple times and amazingly he didn't pull any drag. He dove under my yak which is always a little scary. I got my net ready and slid it under him. Somehow I broke my pole but it was worth it cuz I had a hog in my net. I didn't even yell for a while cuz I was just amazed at what I had just caught! Jason weighed it for me and it ended up being my biggest bass ever by a whole pound. 5lbs 5oz!! Whooo hoooo!!! I'm still excited about it! :)

That's a hawg, glad to see you and Jason catching quality fish all summer, and hope it continues.

That is AWESOME!!! Too bad we didn't make those shirts quite big enough on the fish image but it still seems to work with the words "This is why" hahaha. We're all super pumped for you Smiley and you deserved a hawg like that! Just think that is probably a 6 1/2 lb fish in March!

Thanks! I didn't fish for 12 days because I was sick. So I was so excited to land that fish. I didn't even do my normal yell cuz I was in shock! Lol.

Thanks man! Its an awesome summer for sure! I've only been bass fishing since feb/march of bthis year, so its been one heck of a summer for us! Aren't you sarahs husband? I've been talking to her on facebook. How was your smallie trip? I've never actually fished for smallmouth, but I've heard its a blast.

Well, when I got the shirt that was the right size for most of the ones I was catching. Lol! I'm not complaining at all about this fish not fitting on the shirt! Haha. What can I say, fish like thay are why I love riverbassin! :)

Yep, I'm Sarah's husband. She got me on the Smallie Trip her biggest was 19.25", and mine was 18.75" so I know how Jason fills to get out fished by his better half:)
A smallmouth fight is non-stop, and a blast. We done our 1st trout fishing trip a week ago, and that was awesome fished 5 days straight and caught so many trout we lost track. I think next year we will keep records of our fishing trips like you guys do. YOu have really accomplished a lot in those 6 months.
