As most of you know, my wife Smiley caught her PB largemouth at 5lb 5oz on Friday. Most assume I would be ill to be beaten by my wife but honestly I was so proud I could bust! She forgot to mention that it may have been the bass I wrestled with the wed before last when I hooked that huge LM on a buzzbait and he had a friend just as big with hime....it was on the exact same tree! That is so awesome that you can lose a bass and return to fight again another day. It's happened more than once for us. We have lost several big shoalies and gone back later and caught them. Thid one was one of the two I saw prior to this float, I just know it. I even said out loud to her just before she hooked it, "We are getting close to the tree I lost that pig on the other day." And no more than 5 minutes later I hear, "BABY! Oh my God!" And I went a running. She didn't make a peep until the bass was in her net, and I still had to ask her did she land it...she was in complete shock. The bass looked like it weighed 7 or 8 pounds because of the head. It was just skinny summertime bass though. But man o man I was stoked she caught it and smashed her old personal best by a whole lb! That's what I get for catching my personal best shoalie on her birthday so she caught the LM I lost. Lol.

Also we have set a personal goal for ourselves to catch 1,000 or more bass between the two of us in a years time. We started in Fed on the 20th. Since then I have kept a meticulous record of every fish we catch, all species. But as for bass, they are what counts towards the thousand. Let's call it our own personal river mission. Well in 91 trips where fish were caught, and a total of 192 days we have caught a total of 704 fish and of those 593 were black bass species. The #'s break down like this Largemouths = 147, Shoal Bass = 279(only been fishing for them since May), Spotted Bass = 145, Redeye bass = 15, and those weird spot/shoalie mixes = 4. That's an average of more than 3 fish a day for 192 days! So we are on track to nail the thousand mark by next Feb!

Here are a few pics of my pathetic attempt to catch a bass the size of Smileys! :)

Smiley's Giant headed 5lb 5oz largemouth(tried to put it inbetween the words on her shirt where it says "this is why" on top and "go riverbassin" in the botto, with a fish outline in the middle but the fish was too big!)

I caught 1473 river bass by myself last year, and I quit counting in october lol. As much as you and your wife go you wont have any problem getting a thousand a piece lol.

Cool data on your report there LowHybred and what is even cooler is that you've probably caught some more than once since, from what I know, are predominantly catch and release which is awesome!
