Leigh and I got a chance to get on the water again today and we had a blast. The fish seemed to be somewhat back in rhythm as we finished with 25 for the day!

We worked a 9 mile stretch today, but the current was strong making the day a lot shorter than originally thought. This was a good thing due to the heat! 98degrees on the Bank Sign Leigh said. Isn't that a band?

Anyhow, back to the report! Water clarity was around one and a half foot, but this flow never really clears much, so that was not a factor. The bite was much stronger in the early hours, but didn't taper off until 1:00 p.m. Here's Leigh getting the morning started!!! (3pics)

Plenty of nature to be seen today. I was looking for gators, but none were spotted. We did happen upon plenty of birds, a possum, and the usual turtle crew. I took a few shots of the locals for reference. (2pics)

Leigh started the day with 3 quick bass. I finally got on board with this little guy.

The bite continued to be strong in the early hours and at one point we were getting a steady diet of spots. Leigh and I both lost a 2lb+ fish which was disappointing, but I did manage my best Kentucky of the year around 8:00 a.m. 1 lb 6 oz Kentucky Spotted bass!

The rest of the day we watched bass bust minnows behind current breaks and in the shallows. Chasing the baitfish paid off on most occations. A few fish came off soft plastics, but for the most part the bites were centered around topwater and diving minnow imitators.

I'll round out the rest of the report with some of the better fish pictures. It is amazing how different each Kentucky can be. Some were dark, some light, some brightly patterned, some not-so-much. Each one fiesty though! First up, one of only two largemouth caught.

Now a few multi-colored Kentucky's! (3 pics)

Overall my best numbers day in Mississippi since moving back! A big thanks to Leigh for fishing with me! He's a great guy and an excellent fisherman! I look forward to next time! By the way....stopped by a boiled peanut stand on the way home! WoW oh WoW! Made me glad to be back in the Magnolia State!

Nice report Matthew! I didn't think there were rocky streams in Mississippi.

Good stuff! That last spot has some crazy coloration. I've only seen a couple that have that dark almost bronze coloration with no white belly.
