So I was able to take out my new Ascend 10.5ft kayak for about 3 or 4 hours today. Started with my J-11 and first fish was against the bank in shade under a log, a 14" shoalie. Second fish wasn't much later, a 15.5" LM on the same lure, all fish came on rapala J-11. Missed four buzzbait bites, I believe they were small fish though. My 3rd fish of the morning was a 16.25" shoal bass that hit below a shoal in the fast water. Good fight too! Then came the usual 7" spotted bass and finally a 13" LM. That was all the bass.....I did throw up in this shady spot and something big hit, set the hook and just felt weight and saw big splashing. Then I noticed how skinny it was......a gar. Fun fight though, about a 3 footer and also saved my rapala, and it ran straight afterwards. The new kayak is super roomy, controls great and also gets good speed w/ minimal paddling. Just need to add a few aftermarket accessories like seat cushion and rod holders. Other than that I loved it. Happy Fishing All.
