My son sent me a bunch of old fishing stuff thats been stored for the last 20 years. There's some fly rods, reels, and seven lines.
I did a little flyfishing with the kids years ago and would like to try it again. Are the fly lines still useable, they had very little use before they were stored and don't show any visable deterioration or damage. I wouldn't expect them to work like new lines and would replace them if I decided this was something I was going to pursue. Any info would be apricated.
Thanks

It wouldn't hurt to string them up on a rod and go outside and just give them a cast. You will feel with your hand if they are usable or not.

I have found that if you grab a section of the line with about 18 inches between your hands and pull, you will be able to see if it is dried out and has cracks pretty easily.

Try using a fly line dressing on the good line, after inspecting them to which if any are still good, a good dressing will clean them and make them slick again.
