BasserDrew and I got out in search of some spring time river hawgs. Though we were not successful in finding any monsters we did catch several fish and had a good time.

I caught 11 largemouth and 3 smallies on the day. Drew probably had about the same type of numbers on the day. My bite was almost exclusively on the chatterbait. I was fishing some deeper pockets behind rock and letter the bait sink to the bottom and then retrieving it slowly. The fish hit it pretty hard when I found them.

Here is my largest fish of the day weighing in at 3-9.

I also picked up a decent smallie that showed itself taking a swipe at my buzzbait. When she missed I followed up with a senko and she was hooked. This fish checked in at 2-12 and fought like a bulldog as most smallies do.

Looking forward to getting out there again soon.

when river fishing, how do you prefer to rig a senko, wacky rigged or t-rigged? Weighted?

Yeah, it was a nice day out there and I forgot to add a couple photos of some nice ones I was blessed with.

I am not sure how Moche rigs his senko but I caught my fish on the SOB lures shad head spinnerbait.

I prefer the wacky rig but many times you cannot fish it that way if there are weeds. I always weight mine with small nails inserted into the ends.
