I got off work at 3pm this afternoon down here in Hugo, OK. Decided to go check out what southeast OK has to offer. There's some pretty rivers in this part of the state.

Since I was mostly exploring, and didn't have too much time to work with, I just took two of my rods with whatever happened to be tied on them...a spook and a swimbait to be exact.
The spook scored first in a pushwater above a shoal...that is, if you can call this a "score".

I caught another small spot and had a 1lb LM shake the spook at boat side. Had a decent spot shake the swimbait at boatside, too. I finally figured out what the smallies wanted....anything...as long as it was moving at warp speed. I worked a shoal burning the spook as fast as I could work it and following up misses with the swimbait. I probably got 20 swipes...they just couldn't connect. But if I slowed it down, they wouldn't hit it. I managed to hook up with 3 of them...2 on the swimbait (following up misses on the spook) and one that actually connected with the spook...all about this size.

This was a new river for me...I have now caught fish in 103 different flows in 13 states.
Oink!
