My daughter wanted to go to the river this afternoon so I am never one to turn down the opportunity to do some river fishing, even from the bank. I grabbed a striper rod I like to throw with this 9" slightly modified bad boy tied on:

I was hoping for a striper or maybe a big Largemouth, but instead got a nice Chestatee river spotted bass at 4 lbs 5 ozes. River was clear and flowing hard. Spot was right beside a car sized rock jutting out into the river. I suspect the water temp was around 50 degrees but didn't have anything with me to check it. This Spot fought like a champ and even peeled a little drag on my striper rig, which I have tightened down pretty hard with 50 lb braid main line, with an 8' 25 lb fluorocarbon leader.

No stripers from the bank today on the Chestatee, but yesterday I hit some different waters and got 2 stripers over 20 lbs... :) Both were 38 inches but one weighed 25 lbs 9 oz and the other was 22 lbs 4 oz.

The 60" measuring stick I use rolled a little on this one but it was the heavier one and fought waaaaaayyyy harder than the other one though they are the same length.

All fish I catch are released to grow. Took a photo as I released one of the stripes (I was fishing alone yesterday so hard to get good photos). Tight Lines. Dirk
