I am thinking about hosting a rodeo in October. Looking at the dates of 1-3 (Friday-Sunday) or 15-17 (Friday-Sunday).
I was thinking about the Duck River, so easy access can be had by Alabama and Kentucky folks.
Any thoughts?

Wow, that's a great idea and I like the idea of making it close to several states so many folks can be involved. Either set of dates will probably work but I would look at whichever dates the AL or TN football teams are off, away or playing a cupcake and go with that weekend if it happens to coincide. Thanks for spearheading this Blake!

UT schedule has Oct 2 as LSU (away) and Oct 16 is off.
Bama is home for both, with the Oct. 2 being Florida and Oct. 16 being Ole Miss.
KY is at Ole Miss on Oct. 2 and at home for the Gamecocks on Oct. 16.
I am leaning towards Oct 2 due to warmer camping weather. Not sure of where we will be staying but Henry Horton State Park does close down the restaurant and camping area around that time of year (cabins are open but might be cost prohibitive).

blake if there is any way at all I can make it, I'm there. I don't care about football schedules anywhere near as much as the fishing...unless we're talking VT in the National Championships
Tennessee is one of those "must fish" states. It ranks behind Virginia only because of distance from my front porch.

I'm all for a TN rodeo! Duck river or Buffalo river would be great choices! Especially since I'm so close to either one.

Sarah and I are good with those dates. It's her birthday the 1st, and we don't have any other plans.

I'll try to make arrangements if this comes together. Either dates look clear as of now, but its always a crapshoot this far out.

Yeah I want be able to schedule anything definite until mid-September due to my work schedule but Oct 2 is looking like the most probable date.

Are there any more updates about this rodeo? Camping location, etc.
Thanks.

No updates. Waiting on mine and wife's work schedules to come out.
I got a couple places in mind as far as location. All would be camping (no water/electricity). If numbers of people are low enough, I may do a multiday float and provide a gear boat (my raft and/or pontoon) so everyone else carry just their fishing gear.

2 more weeks of work, then I will have some free time to start checking for places to stay and to try and finalize the date (tentatively weekend of Oct 2).

Cool Blake, keep us all informed because that should be prime time for a rodeo in TN. Did we get vset on an area yet? Sorry, I didn't go back in the thread and look. If we haven't then I could recommend another place that has some unbelievable Musky fishing and good bass fishing too. Its also close to the Jackson Kayak plant and I bet I could get us all a tour since its open with them molding 7 days a week. If we don't do it this time then we'll certainly have to give it a shot down the road because I think it would be fun. I'm just down for whatever and appreciate Blake helping get this rolling in the good ol state of TN!

Drew, looking mainly at the Duck, then Buffalo. But the river you mentioned might be good too. Might have to plan a spring rodeo with tour.

I'm down, but I need to know the dates as soon as possible. There are a lot of trips being planned for and I'll have to start committing one way or the other pretty soon.

So what's the deal? Let me know where we will be fishing, and I'll go scout it out.
