Skiing accident!!!

Accidentally caught this toothy critter while lookin for some smallies on the New River last fall. I was very surprised to land it on my 6# yo-zuri ultra soft. It hit a 5/16 finesse jig. I really thought it was a rock and decided to set the hook anyways. Nothing really happened when I leaned back on it so then I thought it was a branch underwater. Then it ran, and ran, and ran and ripped all the drag it wanted. I really thought my rod was going to break as I could feel the reel seat flexing in my palm. In all the excitement I neglected to weigh or measure it. At any rate heres the proof.

Awesome. Those ski's are amazing fish. Only caught a few in my lifetime when I lived back in Nebraska.

It was almost enough to make me actually try to catch one but they dont call them the fish of 10000 casts for nothin so I may have to get a little older and learn to be more patient before I attempt it. Plus it would feel too much like I was cheating on my first love, Smallies!
