Since I couldn’t find a float partner today, the wife was gracious enough to run the shuttle for me. I hit a small creek in hopes of catching some redeyes and spots. The rain made for a bit of a miserable morning, but it turned out to be a nice day.

This little cave kept me dry for one of the waves of showers.

Unfortunately, the fish seemed to like the rain. About noon, I waited out what would be the last wave of showers under some trees next to a nice looking hole. Once the rain slacked up, I started fishing it and caught 4 fish almost on consecutive casts. Two were dink spots, but the 3rd was this 14oz redeye.

The 4th was this 1-15 spot.

After that, the skies began to clear, and the fish were few and far between. I think I finished the day with 10 or 12, most of them dinks. There really wasn’t any pattern to speak of. I caught a few on buzzbait, one on a plastic worm, a few on a fluke, and a few on a small hard swimbait.

Tough day overall, but the 14oz redeye was a nice highlight.

I didn't have my flashlight, so I figured what I didn't know wouldn't kill me.

BTW, Jeff, that really productive hole was one of the many "there's gotta be a fish here" holes that we pounded to no avail back in March. Two other fish missed a buzzbait in that hole, so I coulda potentially caught 6 out of it. Wished they woulda stayed that active all day.

Cool, I was gonna ask ya if that happened to be the same creek we hit on that last trip. I think that creek has some real potential though. Thats a huge redeye too. The scenery on that creek just can't be beat though and well made up for the lack of fish we caught on that first trip.

Nice trip report Lance. I think you have a big one in your near future but riverbassin.com cannot be held responsible for this prediction...

I hope that prediction rings true, Drew. I've had my share of tough bites this year. I haven't even broke the 4lb mark yet this year...first time in like 4 years I haven't done that by June.
