Well I fished the Hooch Wednesday 6.3.09, between Westpoint and Lanier and learned a valuable lesson. When feeding out a big gizzard shad on a balloon, and striper grabs bait and heads downstream, don't try to stop it with thumb, ENGAGE REEL... . I did stop it though and finally engaged reel when I smelt burnt flesh and the pain overpowered the excitement of a nice striper on...

Actually had 3 pretty good hits on the white bucktail, but only one hooked...

Tried cutbait and live bait on the bottom but no luck, though I had one pretty solid pull that I missed. Didn't get any big ones today but lots of fun none-the-less and good to see that there are quite a few stripers in the stretch I was fishing. Tight Lines. Dirk
