Great pics, Siler! The bass and water were awesome! However, I must say, that "Dixie" was best in show!

Wow, beautiful water and fish. How far from the DFW area are these rivers. I usually have to go to schooling in Dallas each year and I see you're from Grapevine. I may have to haul a kayak next time.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Glad y'all enjoyed the post.

The Brazos is within 100 miles of the Metroplex. You can go west, southwest, or south to get to some of the best stretches that it has to offer. This my favorite Texas river by far and is what I consider my home waters.

The Llano is about 250 south-southwest of DFW. I do this trip about twice a year as a change-of-scenery thing.

I was looking at a map and saw that the Brazos flows through College Station and Waco and all the way to Houston. How far south can you find smallies.

Sorry, don't mean to be Mr. 20 questions. Don't feel obligated to answer if it might jeapordize some of your honeyholes online.

That\'s cool man. I was just up on the Llano a few weeks ago. Beautiful river. We caught some good fish too, but couldn\'t catch any guads close to that monster you posted. We caught tons of them, but the biggest one was 1-10 I think. I\'ll try to get Shoaliieseeker to post the report over here.

SSF

Jump n Fish,

I have been told by some Brazos Smallie experts that you can only expect to find them down to the area near the town of Gholson. Very few beyond there. The Brazos doesn't have large numbers of them anywhere, really . I fished for them for over a year pretty hard before I was lucky enough to catch the one I posted. Only small ones up til then. But it was well worth it. She ruined me.

SSF,

I seen the report Charlie posted. That Largemouth that RatherB caught was unreal! It was that report that had me so stoked to get down there this year.

Thanks Siler, just curious because my company has a jet that goes to Waco almost daily, and I was thinking about just ridin along and slinging a few lures from the shore or wading, just to add another species to the book. Or driving the next time I go to school and bring the kayak.

Don't sweat the questions Jump n Fish. If things get too detailed, I will go the PM route.

If you can get to Waco, head here to fish:

http://www.dickscanoe.com/index.html

This place is no secret. You would be able to access the river here and do plenty of wade fishing. Not much wade fishing around Waco.

Hope this helps.
