After lots of trial and error, I have finally come up with a great anchor system (ideas borrowed from others) and a really cool way to store my fly rods in a secure way but still able to access them in seconds. Any suggestions on improving this would be great. Below is a link to the details and more pics...

Great ideas! You have me brainstorming. I fish out of an ultimate and have the same problems and getting ready to design some of my ideas on CAD and start building.

Yo, Cole.

Thanks for the compliment. Just wish it had taken me a month instead of a year to get it all sorted out!

Next is tackle storage and paddle control...may have to wait another year or two for that!

Be sure to show us what you and your CAD come up with. I was a CNC machinist in another life and know how CAD can really help the creative process along.

Here is my work in progress, I've made a few more mods since this pic but nothing drastic . I have ditched the rod holders and will probably do something like boyscout did with pvc (cool idea by the way). Yeah I know most guys like to keep the seat higher but I fish smaller flows with this craft (none over 70' across and some very small). I have found that lowering the seat is not an issue with flycasting the shorter distances in these smaller flows and it helps me get under over hanging limbs and give more stability (but like all things it's just a personnal preference).

Nice rigs fellas! That is the kind of creativity that makes this sport great.

Nice seat smfisher (that sounds weird for some reason). My seat backer is OK but after 2 straight days of floats, your seat would start to look really good!

BTW, flipped boat last Tuesday. Backup rod that was in the holder was unharmed, rod I had out is now about 2 inches shorter. Rod holder worked as planned, just wish more things in life did that.

Thanks , yeah I get some ribbing about the name but I did leave the “&” out. The seat is very comfortable and that matters on long floats, I also put a 3 degree slant on the seat and you wouldn't believe the difference in comfort and paddling power. I really like the rod holders (neat idea) , I wonder if they would work as well if I did mine running toward the front of the boat???

No, not your name, me saying you had a nice seat sounds weird!

Sorry, I misunderstood your post ,yeah now that you mention it "Your right". I just got back from Dicks with a friend that picked up the Old Town discovery 119 on sale for $399, it's a nice boat for that price . I guess that means I've got another boat to modify.

Well I did a little work today with Sketchup and should have some ideas to show you guys next week or the week after of what I am thinking about adding to my Ultimate. One thing, I want is tube rod holders, that blend in with the boat and take up as little of space as possible.
