Basserdrew and I went on a quest Friday looking for some fishable water and found a few fish in one of his “secret spots”. As always we had a great time but I just don't have the horsepower I used to when I was a young whipper snapper. Right off the bat, I landed a 2 1/2 pound LM on a swimbait. Things were looking up for the day. Later on, I was able to catch the biggest fish of the day, a 3lb. 15oz shoalie. Caught it on a white spinnerbait in some eddy water (text book style). Later in the day, I was able to catch my first topwater fish of 2009. Caught a 2 1/2 LM on a chartruse buzzbait. What a rush!!!! Drew will hopefully post the photos when he get the chance.

The highllight of our trip was the fish that Basserdrew caught. I know you all know that he fishes for big fish with big baits. Well, this trip was no different. I was kidding him about all the different baits he carries in his tackle box. “Is this what you fish for tarpon with????" He had a “Chatterbait” bigger than I have personally ever seen in the stores. Anyway, take a look at the catfish he caught on this “Chatterbait”. I told him…..”Drew, we're not here to catch catfish young man!!! We're here to bass fish!!”. I guess I'm gonna have to give him another nickname…..”Catfishdrew” Drew also landed a shoalie in the 3lb range. He was on the other side of the river from me, so the only picture I have right now is on the video camera. Hopefully, he will post the videos for us.

Sounds like a heck of a time! The rivers here are blown out too from all the recent rain we have gotten.
