I found myself in south GA this past weekend and on my way back to SC I decided to check out the Ocmulgee River at every access point from Spring St. in downtown Macon up to HWY 83 just to see what 'ol muddy looked like at flood stage. She's mean and red!

Drew....these videos of the Ocmulgee are absolutely awesome!!! Can you believe what the water did to the Spring St. area in downtown Macon! Do you think those guys that drove up to the Juliette Dam in their pontoon boat had lost their minds or just took a wrong turn!

I couldn't believe how high the water was at the Hwy 83 bridge! It wasn't that long ago that I also visited these same area when the water was high. Not as high as it now as shown in your videos! Thanks for sharing!! Oh yea....I think I saw that fish you captured on the video at the Juliette Dam wearing a PFD!!!

I bet the sharks around the Spring Street bridge were having a field day.

Awesome footage! Bet that brought some snakes out of their hidy-holes!!

I especially liked the ZZ Top music for dramatic effect!

Insane BD. I have family in Macon and have seen the O come up several times over the years. I can't recall seeing it like that since the early 90's when we had a tropical depression stall out. Good stuff.

Those fellas in the pontoon must be kin to the guys around here that try to fish the Charleston Jetties in 14' jon boats.

:) Nice Bruiser. There is a story behind this remark, guys and I suppose I will tell it. One day I was staying at Bruiser's place in Milledgeville and on our way out of Macon as I was following him I told him to stop at a gas station fairly soon because I wasn't going to make it all the way to his place. So, I see him pass by all these so so looking establishments and I realize that he is just trying to get me to a nicer station and a better part of town to fill up. Well, this makes sense and I appreciate that kind of thought going into such a small decision.

Anyway, we pull up to a better looking place that was well lit and sure enough right when I hop out we have some riff raf that seemingly came out of the bushes somewhere and started making conversation. After seeing our boats and having some conversation about kayak fishing the guy said he used to hang out under the bridges there in downtown. Well, one day he said they saw a shark in the water in Macon and that they police were there and the news and all sorts of attention was being drawn to it. He said they caught it and someone hauled it back to the ocean and let it go. Bruiser and I just sort of laughed and I waited for the line “can you spare any change” but the guy never wanted anything but to talk to a couple guys and share a memory. Nice fella, but I am highly doubting that story and am leaning towards chemical hallucination as the explaination.

Ever since then, Bruiser and I joke about how you need to be careful in the Oc or the sharks will get you! Now everyone is in the loop!

What day was this ? Loved the quick retreat of the guys in the pontoon boat. Hope those guys didn't over shoot the take out point .

You know there has been to much rain when you hear reports of mass fish drownings LOL

I think the shark guy must have spent half the night at Joe's Bar and Grill and slept it off under the bridge. Bull sharks have been known to travel many miles up rivers and are just as comfortable in fresh water as salt , but a shark as far north as the Spring Street Bridge LMAO !
