A tough call to name a favorite because they are all great. But so far, I'd have to say the Ocmulgee is my favorite because of its diversity. I like the shoals on the Upper Ocmulgee (even though it has given me trouble in the past... right swampy?) I like the area around Juliette. I still need to fish the stretch below hwy 96 to Hawkinsville... maybe this year. I really like the area around Abbeville. I caught some nice fish down there last fall.

Its hard to beat the lower Flint too but the Ocmulgee is good. I also like the Hooch and some lesser known rivers that are too small and fragile to name.

FF, you should try the section below 96 on the Oc, its beautiful but hard to get access. Here are some pics.

I love the Flint river like no other. From top to bottom, it's one of the most unique rivers in the country. The lower Flint is unique for a river below the fall line. Not many below the fall line rivers have shoals like the lower flint. The sheer beauty of the upper flint is breath taking. Taken as a whole the flint is a real treasure.

Where can you put in on 96 or below? Is there a public access ramp?

I have to agree with SSF.. The Flint is the most beautiful and unspoiled river in the the state.
We are blessed to have such a true Gem in our state..

My favorite would have to be the hooch because you have the option of lakes, river, shoals, etc..also grew up on that river but if I was going to give a favorite based on fishing then it's the Ocmulgee.

Fond memories of the Ocmulgee growing up, but after fishing with Shoal Tide on the lower Flint... Definitely the FLINT!

I'd say for the overall river bassin' experience of catching quality fish and enjoying the beauty of a river, the lower Flint River is difficult to top!
