The shad and herring are really turning on at the fish lift in St. Stephens and at Wilson's Landing, which is near Harry's Fish Camp in Cross S.C. If you have kids or someone new to fishing this is a great way to get them started. You don't need a boat and standard light tackle is all you need. We fished last Saturday with 4 kids between 5-10 and caught over 100 fish in three hours.

BTW_ The stripers and large blue and flathead catfish are always right with the shad.

Good tip SH! Makes me want to head down there and get into some of that action. And even though it isn't bass, like you said, they'll be there if the bait is!

Great idea about the kids too. I am pumped to host one and possible two or three kids camps through RiverBassin.com this year. Keep an eye out for info on that and the tournament trail soon! And, if anyone wants to help out with the kids camp or wants one in your neck of the woods then let me know. Oh, and let me know if there is a location with cabins or camping with good facilities to host it.
